Junior Social Events

Junior Social events are organized and supervised by volunteer parents in order to provide safe, entertaining activity for young people (approximately 3 to 12 years) outside of the Junior Program class day. The events foster a strong sense of community and love for the lake. All children and grandchildren of NLGYC members, their parents, and families are welcome to join in the fun!

Smores and Stories

An event for younger children ages 3 to 8 (Polliwogs, Frogs, and Group 1) and their parents. There will be a campfire on the club grounds, with Smore-making, storytelling, and campfire activities/songs. (Siblings are welcome, but the focus at this event will be on the younger children. This is not a drop-off event.)

Movie Night

A family friendly movie will be shown on the big screen along with plenty of popcorn. The title will be announced the week before the event, but all suggestions are welcome.

Sports Night

Competitors Wanted: Capture the Flag? Soccer? Frisbee Golf? Croquet? Whiffle Ball? Egg and Spoon Races? Four Square? You make the call at Sports night. Cool drinks and high adrenaline will fuel the evening. No need to be sporty to attend. Volunteer parents will have a selection of games that can fit all age and ability levels.

Square Dance

"Swing your partner 'round and 'round and turn your corner upside down!" Dance and do-si-do to live, old-time music with a traditional square dance caller. All ages are welcome to wander over.

Family Grill

All families with kids in the Junior Program age group are invited to pack a picnic, BYOM (Bring your Own Meat) to put on the grill, and enjoy some family bonding. Don't forget your plates, cups, and utensils!

Bingo Night

Mark your free space, and get ready to yell "Bingo!" The Sail Team hosts this event with plenty of enthusiasm. Look out for all your favorite staff members and a special bake sale table too.

Across-the-Lake-Swim

On the first calm day of the week swim the width of the lake with a full cheering squad and escorts. Check it off your bucket list... until next year!

Variety Show

We'll provide the sail loft stage, the microphone, and the motivation. You provide the talent! Anything goes: from skits to songs, jokes to gymnastics, lip–sync to loon calls. Kids of all ages collaborate to put on a show for a forgiving audience.

Gymkhana

Obstacle courses, pudding-eating contests, and sailing and swimming silliness are highlights at Gymkhana, the culminating festival day of the summer. Bittersweet goodbyes are said at the family picnic that follows.
