COMMODORE’S LOG: COVID-19 and plans for the 2021 season
The Flag Officers have met to discuss what the summer of 2021 might look like. We are cautiously optimistic that the club will be open in some form, while following all federal, state and local guidelines. With vaccine distribution underway, we will continue to monitor guidelines throughout the end of winter and early spring. (Time for applause here and sound the bells!!-??) This winter, many of our committees have been hard at work planning to make this summer a success for our entire membership.
The Jr. Program hiring committee has been in full-on sprint mode to hire the best staff possible. The Jr. Program leadership committee has been working diligently setting up a fantastically fun program for our younger members. An email will be forthcoming shortly with registration details.
The Buildings and Grounds committee has been planning, measuring, calculating, and emailing for the past several months on future upgrades to the club. It is super exciting to see many members involved as volunteers to help sustain and improve our club’s buildings and grounds. Stay tuned.
The Racing committee will be meeting soon to brainstorm on what our weekend racing will look like to attract the greatest number of sailors to the racecourse, making it fun while still being competitive. I encourage everyone to send their suggestions/ideas to me or Donna Wotton.
I hope that you all remain safe and healthy throughout the rest of the winter and during the spring months, and I look forward to seeing my lake family soon.
Tracey Barth, Commodore
